Military M1903A3 Rifle: Smith Corona: Covering numbers: 3608000 - 4992000. Build trusses with software mac free. Please enter a serial number and click the submit button. The serial number is 4140112. According to this link (Vi Shooter's M1903 Page), it says it is a 'RA3 414xxxx RA 8-44'. Garageband older versions mac. Now, what exactly does this mean?! Is '44 the production date? Also, anyone care to ballpark a price on this rifle?








The stamps were put on the rifles to show that 3 things had been done:

1. Checked for working condition

2. Fired with proof round and checked for damage
3. Accepted by the Ordnance Department

The maker's mark and Ordnance wheel went on the center side of the stock below the back end of the receiver. The circled 'P' went on the pistol grip halfway between the trigger guard and bottom.

IF YOUR ITEM HAS A SERIAL NUMBER CLOSE TO WHERE THE PART WAS CHANGED, USING THE EARLIER VERSION WILL ALWAYS BE RIGHT. THE PART HAD TO HAVE BEEN IN EXISTENCE WHEN THE ITEM WAS ASSEMBLED.

Here is some information that you can get from you serial number after 1921
Remington's manufactured after 1921 have a code located on the left side of the barrel near the frame that identifies the year and month of manufacture. The following letters correspond to the months of the year

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 11 - 12

Using barrel codes (such as those listed above) to date the manufacture are reliable on Remington rifles, as the company rarely changed barrels on a customer's rifle.
Using these barrel codes to date a shotgun is somewhat unreliable, as shotgun barrels are often interchanged at random. One needs to be sure that the barrel is original to the gun before trusting the Barrel Code listing, above.
(*) On 8/9/99, stopped stamping the barrels with the date code. They continued to mark the date code on the end flap of the shipping box. They resumed stamping the date code on the barrel on 10/1/01.
